Mixer Guide
Technical reference for the Northmix Bitcoin mixer and crypto tumbler
Northmix is a no KYC Bitcoin mixer and crypto tumbler. The flow takes a user from asset selection through configuration, deposit, verification and payout, with the goal of breaking the on-chain link between deposit and payout. The flow is explained in plain language on the how it works page. This page is the technical reference for developers integrating with, reviewing or extending Northmix.
Application flow
The interface is a single coherent experience composed of seven screens:
- Asset selection — choose a cryptocurrency and its supported network.
- Configuration — enter a payout address, the amount, the number of rounds and the delay. Review the fee breakdown and the deposit address.
- Transaction details — read the full summary, including the transaction reference and fee components.
- Transaction confirmation — submit the public transaction hash for verification after sending the deposit.
- Verification — observe verification progress and confirmation counts.
- Wallet connect — the three-step connect flow that opens on the wallet step.
- Result — final status with a link to the relevant blockchain explorer.
Asset and network model
Each asset declares the networks it supports. A token that shares a ticker on two different networks is treated as two distinct configurations. USDT on Ethereum and USDT on BNB Smart Chain are not interchangeable. The selector enforces this distinction by binding an asset to exactly one network at a time. The full lists live on the two pages below. See the supported assets and supported networks pages for the full lists.
Fee calculation
The service fee is fixed at 1.5% of the gross amount. The calculation pipeline:
- Gross amount — the value entered by the user, validated against the asset decimals.
- Service fee — gross × 1.5%, computed with integer arithmetic to avoid floating-point error.
- Estimated network fee — fetched from the data layer and shown separately.
- Estimated net amount — gross − service fee − network fee.
Service fee and network fee are never combined into a single unexplained figure. See the fees page for the fee breakdown.
Rounds and delay
Rounds and delay are the two parameters that control how strongly the output is separated from the input. A round is one full mix cycle. More rounds push the output further from the input through additional pool hops. Delay is the time between the deposit confirming and the payout being broadcast, in the range 0 to 72 hours. A non-zero delay makes time-based correlation harder. Both parameters are independent and apply to every supported asset, not just BTC.
Transaction lifecycle
A transaction intent is created by the data layer and identified by a transaction reference (txRef). The reference is public and safe to display. The lifecycle states are:
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
awaiting_hash | Intent created, waiting for the user's transaction hash. |
verifying | Hash submitted, verification in progress. |
settled | Verification completed successfully. |
failed | Verification failed or transaction rejected. |
Wallet connect
The wallet step opens the connector and returns the address it was given:
NORTHMIX.walletAdapter.register(name, impl)
NORTHMIX.walletAdapter.connect(connectorName?)
NORTHMIX.walletAdapter.disconnect()
NORTHMIX.walletAdapter.getAddress()
NORTHMIX.walletAdapter.getNetwork()
NORTHMIX.api.getPair(asset, network)
NORTHMIX.api.createDeposit(intent)
The connector never asks for a seed phrase or a private key. See the security page for the full application security model.
Service integration
Starting a mix asks Northmix for the deposit address of the pair you picked:
NORTHMIX.api.createDeposit({ asset, network, payout, fee, rounds, delay });
The address comes back with a reference and a one hour window. The flow stops there if the pair has no address.
